Violent conflict, religious persecution, and compromised rule of law are all on the rise globally, and many of our Christian brothers and sisters around the world are serving God in increasingly hard contexts. Can microchurches (and microchurch networks) stay beautifully focused on a specific local mission and yet still welcome their global siblings and engage in global missions? Is it possible with limited time and without a large (or any) global missions budget? In this workshop, Scott Williams will make the case that relational engagement with the global church actually strengthens--rather than competes with--our local missional initiatives. And because of recent technological and social shifts, global engagement is now easier and cheaper than ever. Drawing case studies from the Living Water Network, he will describe the mutual benefits that come from engaged global partnerships, and a new platform of tools that make it possible for western believers to cultivate relationships with their global peers and offer their prayers, networks, and professional skills to the work of global missions--without ever getting on a plane.
